How We Test

Before launch: Google explicitly rewards evidence of how testing was done — how many units, what was measured, and photographic proof. Replace the placeholders with your real method.

Every review on G-Shocked follows the same process, so scores mean the same thing from one watch to the next.

What we measure

  • Wearability — measured case width, lug-to-lug, thickness and weight on our own scales, plus at least two weeks on the wrist.
  • Legibility — display contrast in daylight, indoors and at night; backlight duration timed.
  • Build — bezel and strap fit, button feel, finish under magnification.
  • Practicality — how well the functions work when you actually need them.
  • Value — against current street prices, not RRP.

How we score

Scores run from 0 to 10 and are awarded against the criteria above. A 7 is a good watch. We do not grade on a curve and we do not round up to be polite.

Where the watches come from

We buy most of them. Where a watch is lent or supplied, we say so in the article itself.

Use of AI

Reviews are written by a human who has handled the watch. We may use software to help with research, transcription or proofreading, but opinions, testing and scores are ours. [Adjust to match what you actually do.]
